Antique EAPG Spooner, Higbee Glass Co, Paneled Thistle, 4 Inch, Clear Glass
A gorgeous antique EAPG (Early American Pressed Glass) Spooner by Higbee Glass. A spooner, at first glance, can be mistaken for a large sugar bowl since they may have handles on each side and are similar in shape. They were designed, as the name implies, to hold spoons or other flatware on a buffet or serving table. This spooner has a thistle design. A perfect way to have spoons (and other utensils) displayed at a party or just for everyday.
You can also use the spooner to serve croutons for dressing up salads. They are very handy to use for many different dressings and sauces, making a nice presentation. Spooners are also very popular to store your make-up brushes or toothbrushes in, the list of things it could hold is endless as well as being beautiful glass with a past. It would make a fantastic addition to a sideboard, table or serve as a display piece in a curio or china cabinet as well.
Size:
4¼ inches in height
3¾ inches in diameter
American colorless pressed glass made before 1930 is said to fluoresce yellow under a black light, while reproductions generally do not. We have tested this and it does have a yellow glow.
This is in excellent condition. It has no chips or cracks. It does have line from the manufacturing process. This is approximately 100 years old.
A great gift for a special occasion or holiday.
