A wonderful children's hardcover book titled Amazing Animals of Australia by National Geographic. The book has beautiful illustrations.

In the days when sailing ships were exploring little known parts of the world, their crews often returned home with stories about wonders they had seen. Imagine what Europeans must have thought when, in the 1600s and 1700s sailors returned from a faraway place now called Australia. The sailors reported seeing an animal the size of a greyhound, that had a greyhound's tail, jumped like a hare, and left footprints like a goat. Other travelers reported spotting an animal that was "Black as The Devil," with "2 Horns on its Head" and wings, and another animal that had the "Beak of a Duck" and the body of an otter, with sharp claws and a flat, furry, tail. Today the Kangaroo, the flying Fox Bat, and the Platypus are all familiar animals. You've probably seen them at a zoo or in pictures. But people hearing about these animals for the very first time must have had some pretty strange ideas about them. Soon, however, people around the world came to know these and other odd Australian animals, such as the Koala, the Echidna, the Tasmanian Devil, you can, too. Just keep turning the pages of this wonderful book.

As New: The book is in the same immaculate condition as when it was published. This could be the description of a book that has been lost in a warehouse for years, never shelved, thumbed or even opened yet may still be some years old.

Fine: A Fine book approaches the condition of As New, but without being crisp. The book may have been opened and read, but there are no defects in the book, jacket or pages.

Very Good: Describes a book that shows some small signs of wear - but no tears - on either binding or paper. Any defects should be noted by the seller.

Good: Describes the average used book that has all pages or leaves present. Any defects should be noted by the seller.

Fair: A Worn book that has complete text pages (including those with maps or plates) but may lack endpapers, half-title, etc. Binding, jacket (if any), etc., may also be worn. All defects should be noted.

Poor: Describes a book that is sufficiently worn. Any missing maps or plates should still be noted. This copy may be soiled, scuffed, stained or spotted and may have loose joints, hinges, pages, etc.
