Dinner Plates, Bernardaud China, B and Co, Limoges France, Fine China, White and Gold, Set of 6

A beautiful set of six antique dinner plates by B & C Limoges Bernardaud. This china pattern is a rare find. It is white with a gold floral swag and gold rim and dates from the late 1800s. These would be great for a collector of antique china or would make a wonderful statement on a buffet, sideboard, or dinner table.

The Bernardaud factory was established in 1863 by Rémi Delinières. It was located in Limoges, on the street which is now named Albert-Thomas Avenue. In 1895 Léonard Bernardaud became a partner with Remi Delinières forming the R. Delinières & Cie. Five years later the company was dissolved and replaced by the new company L. Bernardaud & Cie. In 1919 the company opened an office in New York. Léonard Bernardaud died in 1923 and his two sons, Jacques and Michel Bernardaud took over. The brothers expanded the company by introducing porcelain in an Art Deco style. The company survived periods of turmoil with first the Great Depression and then World War II. In 1949 Michel Bernardaud died and Jacques Bernardaud remained the lone head of the company. In 1962 the company's management was taken over by Michel Bernardaud's son, Pierre Bernardaud. Pierre worked with Jacques's son Paul, which in 1970 took over another Limoges porcelain business, the Vignaud factory. In the 1990's, the Limoges Bernardaud factory was changed into a cultural center. In 2002 Michel Bernardaud established a Bernardaud Corporate Foundation, which mission is to renew the look of porcelain, reinvent it and explore new territories.
