It wasn't his drinking; Harry goes on binges that horrify and repulse Catherine; it wasn't his facile ability to lie; it wasn't the way ``he thrived on chaos.'' But she learns that he takes nothing in life for granted; he challenges her to examine her perceptions and actions carefully.

Paula Fox (1923 – 2017) was an American author of novels for adults and children as well as for two memoirs. For her contributions as a children's writer, she won the biennial, international Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1978, the highest international recognition for a creator of children's books

This book is in very good condition. It has no rips or tears, though there are some light staining on a couple of pages. The binding is solid and tight. As an ex-library book, it has a library card holder on the back fly leaf and the book's dust cover is covered in plastic.

As New: The book is in the same immaculate condition as when it was published. This could be the description for a book that has been lost in a warehouse for years, never shelved, thumbed or even opened yet may still be some years old.
