A beautiful hand carved Thai Sawasdee Lady Woman Welcome Statue figurine. It was hand carved in Thailand from a single block of wood. The Thai Sawasdee Lady Woman Welcome Statue is a traditional Thai lady in the Wai position, which is a traditional greeting that shows great respect. A wonderful statue for an entryway. Great gift for any figurine and sculpture collectors.
The Thai greeting referred to as the wai, consists of a slight bow, with the palms pressed together in a prayer-like fashion. The higher the hands are held in relation to the face and the lower the bow, the more respect or reverence the giver of the wai is showing. The wai is traditionally observed upon formally entering a house. The wai is also common as a way to express gratitude or to apologize.
