Children's Hardcover Book, Hide and Seek Fog, Alvin Tresselt, Fiction, Weekly Reader Book, Collectible, Illustrated, Picture Book
A wonderful children's hardcover book called Hide and Seek Fog by Alvin Tresselt and Illustrated by Roger Duvoisin. This book is a Caldecott Honor Book, an ALA Notable Book and a New York Times Best Illustrated Book. It is a 1965 Weekly Reader edition.
Children romp and play throughout a heavy fog in a Cape Cod seaside village. It's the worst fog in twenty years and it rolls in and clouds the seaside village for three days. The adults wait impatiently for the fog to lift. But the children love the mysterious fog and enjoy playing hide-and-seek, making scrapbooks, and toasting marshmallows. There is something very special about a fog in its own peculiar movements and in the way it transforms life. The book's art captures perfectly the three-dimensional mist and its motion. Then the return to the normal life, as the fog lifts, The bright cheerful village plays up the unique qualities of the fog. The mood of the fog has been skillfully evoked by the author and illustrator.
