Oneida was a silverware company that produced silver-plated and stainless-steel flatware and hollow ware for over 100 years. The company was founded in 1848 in Oneida, New York as part of the Oneida Community, a utopian society. The Oneida Community began producing silverware in 1899 using the "Community" mark. In 1929, the Oneida Community merged with the Wm A. Rogers company. Oneida revolutionized the industry in the 1960s when it first introduced stainless-steel flatware.
