A wonderful first edition children's book from 1958. This book is titled Hoofs Claws and Antlers with the subtitle "The Story of American Big Game Animals. The book was written by Harold McCracken and Illustrated by Lee Ames.
This is a great book for a child or a collector.

Harold McCracken (1894-1983) was an American author, an Alaskan grizzly bear hunter, biplane stunt photographer, cinematographer, producer and museum director. He was also an explorer, who led an expedition in the 1920s looking for the possibility of a long-ago land bridge between Siberia and Alaska.

This book is in very good condition. It is a hardcover but has no dust jacket. There is some wear at the ends of the spine. The binding of the book is intact. There is a sticker on the first cover page. It was published by Garden City Books, Garden City, NY. It has beautiful animal illustrations in color, and black & white. The pages are a bit yellowed from age. There are no marks or writing in the book

As New: The book is in the same immaculate condition as when it was published. This could be the description for a book that has been lost in a warehouse for years, never shelved, thumbed or even opened yet may still be some years old.

Fine: A Fine book approaches the condition of As New, but without being crisp. The book may have been opened and read, but there are no defects to the book, jacket or pages.

Very Good: Describes a book that shows some small signs of wear - but no tears - on either binding or paper. Any defects should be noted by the seller.

Good: Describes the average used book that has all pages or leaves present. Any defects should be noted by the seller.
