A grand hardcover fiction novel by Mrs. Georgie Sheldon. It is entitled Witch Hazel. This is an 1892 Edition and has no dust cover. The book's hardcover is light green cloth with a portrait on the cover and bright red printing. This book in its old version is hard to find.
As a toddler, “Hazel Gay” is the sole survivor of an ill-fated steamer ship, and is adopted by her rescuers.
Sarah Elizabeth Forbush Downs (1843–1926) was born June 5, 1843, in Wrentham, Massachusetts. She received her education at the Ladies' Collegiate Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts. In 1868, she married George Sheldon Downs. She used a form of his name as a pseudonym in much of her writing.
