A beautiful limited edition 1981 collector plate from The Franklin Mint. It is from The Great Clipper Ships Collection. This plate is the Oriental. This would be a lovely addition to your home decor or as a gift. Great for hanging on a wall or added to a china cabinet.
The Oriental a clipper ship was built by Jacob Bell, New York for the New York merchants A.A.Low & Brother. In 1849 it was launched under the name Oriental. This ship was built for the China trade.

Cost: $70,000.
Fate: She was lost on the River Min when she was towed out from Foochow by local boats and under pilot directions, she hit a rock and sank on 25 February 1854.
