Antique EAPG Pickle Dish, Adams and Co, Minerva Pattern, Roman Medallion, Two-Handled Bowl, Serving Dish, Relish Bowl, Decorative Bowl, Collectible
A beautiful antique EAPG (Early American Pressed Glass) pickle dish. The pattern is of Minerva (the Roman goddess of wisdom). Along the sides of the bowl is written: "Loves Request Is Pickles". This bowl is two-handled and made of clear glass. The bowl was made to serve pickles but it would be great for serving any number of sauces, nuts, candy, etc. It would look gorgeous on a buffet, sideboard, china cabinet, curio cabinet, or table. A great item for collectors of EAPG. This was produced from 1881 to 1885 which makes it over 130 years old.
John Adams, a pioneer American glass manufacturer, and the founder of Adams Glass was born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania in 1823. He began working in glass manufacture at the age of 14. In 1851, Adams opened his own glass factory. By 1861, it was considered one of the largest glass factories in the Pittsburgh area.
Size:
1 inch in height (bowl height)
9 3/4 inches handle to handle
5 inches in width
This gorgeous dish is in 'like new' condition. There are no chips or cracks. There are no utensil marks. There are some slight bubbles from being blown into a mold. Finding a bowl of this age with no marks is highly unusual and a rare find.
This would make a great housewarming, hostess, wedding, shower, or holiday gift. A great piece to add to your collection.
