This is a very beautiful cup and saucer made by Merit Japan. The floral pattern is hand painted. A great gift idea for yourself or anyone who loves flowers. Around the edge of the saucer and around the foot, center, edge, and handle of the teacup is a gold line. It will be great for that morning coffee or afternoon tea. A great gift for a teacup collector.
Many items being exported from Japan from 1945 to 1952 were required by law to be marked with the words “Occupied Japan”, or “Made in Occupied Japan”. General Douglas MacArthur started this to help Japanese people with their post-war economic recovery.
