A wonderful hardcover book titled To The Hilt by Dick Francis. The book cover boards are purple with an embossed image on the front of a racehorse and author's initials. The books title and author's name is in black against green on the spine. This is a first edition.

Just after learning that his stepfather is gravely ill, artist Al Kinloch, returning to his remote home in the Scottish Highlands, is attacked by four men. They ask one question - 'where is it?' - then leave him for dead. Baffled and hurt, Al visits his stepfather and learns that millions of pounds are missing and a valuable racehorse is under threat. Roughed up already, Al decides he has nothing to lose getting to the bottom of this. Unfortunately, the thugs who beat him up and the person behind them will want to make sure that Al doesn't survive their next encounter...

Dick Francis (October 1920 – February 2010) was the author of more than forty acclaimed books. Among his numerous awards were three Edgar Awards, the Crime Writers' Association Cartier Diamond Dagger, and the Mystery Writers of America's Grand Master Award. He died in February 2010.

This book is in Fine condition (it would be in New condition if not for the mark on the front page). Its dust cover is in "like new" condition with no rips, tears, marks, or creases. The binding is in perfect condition and the pages are clean and white. The only marking in the book is an R with a circle around it on front flyleaf.

As New: The book is in the same immaculate condition as when it was published. This could be the description for a book that has been lost in a warehouse for years, never shelved, thumbed or even opened yet may still be some years old.

Fine: A Fine book approaches the condition of As New, but without being crisp. The book may have been opened and read, but there are no defects to the book, jacket or pages.

Very Good: Describes a book that shows some small signs of wear - but no tears - on either binding or paper. Any defects should be noted by the seller.

Good: Describes the average used book that has all pages or leaves present. Any defects should be noted by the seller.

Fair: Worn book that has complete text pages (including those with maps or plates) but may lack endpapers, half-title, etc. Binding, jacket (if any), etc., may also be worn. All defects should be noted.
