Antique Square Sugar Bowl, Wood and Sons, Woods Ware, Willow Pattern, Collectible
A lovely antique square sugar bowl by Wood and Sons in it's Woods Ware Enoch Woods Series. It is in the Blue Willow pattern which consists of a blue transfer scene on both sides of the bowl. This piece would make a great addition to an antique collection. It would be a lovely addition to a china cabinet, table, buffet, or sideboard.
The Wood & Sons business was established in 1865 by Absalom Wood and his son T. F. Wood. Mr. Harry F. Wood succeeded his father, T. F. Wood, as chairman in 1921 and under his management Wood & Sons Ltd became a large and successful earthenware manufacturer. The business went into receivership in December 1981 and was sold. Under its new owners, the business traded as Wood & Sons Ltd until its closure in 1995.

This sugar bowl is in excellent condition considering its age. It is approximately 100 years old. It is from Wood & Sons older Blue Willow Pattern which can be identified by its shape and handle. It has no cracks. There is a small chip on the inside where the cover sits and has light utensil marks inside. The bowl and lid have some very light crazing.
