A wonderful set of three bread and butter plates by Syracuse China. The pattern is called Essex and consists of a white plate with an embossed scalloped edge. These are heavy restaurant grade china. They would be wonderful for use on a porch, patio, or picnic table. Sturdy plates for heavy everyday use.
Syracuse China was located in Syracuse, New York. It was founded in 1871 as Onondaga Pottery Company in the town of Geddes, New York. In the late 19th century, Onondaga Pottery began producing fine china, for which it found a strong market, particularly in hotels, restaurants, and railroad dining cars. The manufacturing facility in Syracuse closed in 2009, after 138 years of operation.

These plates are in great condition. There are no chips, cracks or crazing. This set of plates has utensil marks from years of being used in a restaurant.
The plates are very heavy. They were made to take the abuse of being used in a restaurant.
