A beautiful salt and pepper set by Wedgwood. The pattern is Jasperware, blue with relief decorations in white. This set is marked on the bottom and has their original plugs. A great set for any table, buffet, or sideboard. Perfect addition to a set of Jasperware and a great gift idea for a collector. These would also make a wonderful wedding gift.
Jasperware is a type of pottery first developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the 1770s. It is described as stoneware, it has an unglazed matte "biscuit" finish and is produced in a number of different colors, of which the most common and best known is a pale blue that has become known as Wedgwood Blue. Relief decorations in contrasting colors (typically in white) are characteristic of jasperware, giving a cameo effect. The reliefs are produced in molds and applied to the ware as sprigs. Sprigging or sprigged decoration is a technique for decorating pottery with low relief shapes made separately from the main body and applied to it before firing.

This set is in excellent condition. There are no cracks or chips. They are bright and clean.
